Pickleball Program Levels
Racquet Network offers four different types of programming in a number of different racquet sports including pickleball. All programs are designed to serve a particular subset of players. While players are welcome to participate in more than one type of program, it is expected that players who do so will adjust their expectations accordingly.
NOVICE – In novice programs, most players are either learning the game for the first time or are learning to improve. The intensity level in novice programs is low. Competition is introduced but it is not the focus of the program. Stratification of courts is not permitted. In novice programs, the emphasis is on learning.
RECREATIONAL – In recreational programs, most players know how to play and how to keep score. However, recreational programs are open to all levels and therefore may include novice players. Stratification of courts is not permitted in recreational programs. Participants are expected to play with everybody. In recreational programs, the emphasis is on socializing.
COMPETITIVE – In competitive programs, most players are at the intermediate or advanced levels. These programs are not recommended for beginners or intermediate players with fitness or mobility issues. Intensity levels are higher and the focus is on competition. Each session includes a warm-up, fitness training, drills and competitive match play. Stratification of courts is mandatory.
ELITE – Players in elite programs are learning how to win. Each session includes a warm-up, high-intensity fitness training, drills and competitive match play. Stratification of courts is mandatory. Group size is smaller in order to enhance one-on-one coaching opportunities.
